Coronavirus cases on the rise in Russia due to new strains, and the case goes to masks August 3, 2022 – City – Saint-Petersburg News

During the day, 14,638 cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in Russia. This is a record value since the beginning of April. In Moscow, 5,720 cases were recorded, in St. Petersburg – 1,781, the federal operational headquarters reported on August 3.

A total of 2,038 people were hospitalized across the country, a 3.9% increase compared to August 2. In St. Petersburg, 171 people were admitted to the hospital and 6 died, in Moscow – 295 hospitalized and 12 deaths.

Rospotrebnadzor reported that in the whole Russian Federation, the increase in the incidence is due to the spread of new strains – VA.4 and VA.5 genovariants. In this regard, the department recommends wearing a mask in crowded places, washing hands, limiting contact if you feel unwell and staying at home if you get sick. It is important not to self-medicate, immediately call a doctor and regularly ventilate the premises – preferably once every half an hour, and, of course, get vaccinated once morest coronavirus.
