Lhe average number of coronavirus infections rose to 517.1 per day between July 25 and July 31, the Sciensano Public Health Institute said on Tuesday in its dashboard data update. If the number of new cases increases by 60% in one week, the number of tests carried out also climbs by 52%.
Part of the increase in cases can therefore be attributed to the increase in the number of tests.
Stabilization in Antwerp and West Flanders
The number of new cases detected is stabilizing in the provinces of Antwerp and West Flanders. On the other hand, in the province of Liège and in the Brussels region, the curves are climbing.
Regarding the number of hospitalizations, it now stands at 25 per day, an increase of 31% compared to the previous week.
However, the evolution of occupied intensive care beds is not comparable to the March wave.
