We weren’t outraged by South Korea and China when massive facilities for luge, bobsleigh and skeleton were built there for the 2018 and 2022 Winter Games respectively. A few years later, at least in Italy, but not only there, the mood is completely different. After all, the Olympic Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo are coming up in 2026, but Cortina stands – surprise, surprise! – without a suitable ice track there.
