Court: Prince Andrew paid back money from controversial businessman

According to the millionaire, she hired the accused businessman to keep her money safe following she had to leave Turkey for political reasons. Instead, he is said to have embezzled the property. The transfer to Andrew was justified to her in exchange for help obtaining a passport and as a wedding gift to Andrew’s daughter Beatrice (33), as the woman testified in court, according to the PA news agency. The businessman denied the allegations.

The reason why Andrew received the money in November 2019 was initially unclear. The businessman reportedly won a Pitch at Palace award, which Andrew presented, shortly therefollowing. Prince Andrew’s spokeswoman declined to comment on dpa’s request on Saturday, citing the ongoing court proceedings.
