The Real Madrid goalkeeper has been crowned by ‘France Football’ as the best in the world in his position.
Thibaut Courtois won the Yachine Trophy for best goalkeeper of 2022, awarded by the magazine France Football at the Ballon d’Or gala held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. The Real Madrid goalkeeper finished ahead of Bounou, Alisson, Ederson, Maignan, Mendy, Neuer, Oblak, Trapp and Lloris.
The exceptional season of the Belgian goalkeeper, who won the European Cup, La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup, and who was named Finals MVP of the Champions League, also allowed him to be part of the 30 nominees for the Ballon d’Or, which he concluded in seventh place.
