The French public health agency reported on Friday 19,348 new contaminations due to the coronavirus in 24 hours, or nearly 600 less than the day before (19,927).
This figure remains slightly below the levels observed last week, but still remains far from the government objective of going down to 5,000 cases per day.
This daily figure has varied enormously since mid-December, fluctuating between some 3,000 and over 21,000.
The positivity rate, which measures the percentage of people positive for Covid-19 out of all those tested, is up to 3.8%, against 3.2% the day before.
The best in hospitals
The number of patients hospitalized in the past seven days is 7,242, and of these 1,133 have been admitted to intensive care.
The number of patients hospitalized for Covid-19 is 24,263, or 144 less than Thursday, a slight drop like the previous few days, with 677 new admissions.
The number of patients in intensive care or intensive care is also down slightly, with 2,609 people (-16), and 99 new admissions.
