Covid-19: France crosses the bar of 130,000 dead

France crossed the symbolic bar of 130,000 deaths linked to Covid-19 on Thursday, less than two years following the start of the pandemic.

According to figures from Public Health France, since the outbreak of the epidemic, 130,015 people infected with Covid-19 have died in hospital, retirement homes or other medico-social establishments.

In the past 24 hours, health authorities have recorded 268 new deaths in hospital, for a daily average of 258 deaths for Covid-19, a figure up 19% compared to last week, according to the health agency, quoted by the press.

Public Health France has also reported 392,168 new contaminations with the new coronavirus in the country, i.e. a daily average of 363,579 positive cases, an increase of 12% compared to last week.

In addition, the health agency recorded an average of 2,822 hospital admissions for Covid-19 each day in France, up 11% compared to the previous week, while 30,982 people are currently hospitalized for a Covid infection. -19, a rebound of 11% compared to last week.

Critical care also received an average of 294 severely ill patients with the virus each day, up 3% from the previous week, for a total of 3,694 people currently admitted to critical care.
