Last week, the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, asked qualified people to register on the “I contribute” website in order to act as a vaccinator.

He then hoped to convince 1,000 people to join the vaccination campaign in anticipation of the more intense weeks to come, when federal vaccine deliveries will be larger. There would therefore always be a shortage of some 500 volunteers.

Several trades have responded, including acupuncturists, audiologists, chiropractors, audiotherapists, denturists, occupational therapists and dental hygienists.

All this thanks to a ministerial decree adopted last December by the Legault government in order to expand the pool of professional bodies able to vaccinate the population against COVID-19. No less than 3,700 people were thus recruited for the current vaccination campaign.

The province has the capacity to immunize 250,000 people per week. As of March 2, 455,328 Quebecers have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
