The government is still concerned regarding the rising corona numbers. The number of cases is also increasing once more in the hospital. The Austria-wide 7-day incidence is currently 989.2. Carinthia is even higher with a value of 1,046.9. A big leap, because a week ago the incidence in our state was 634.8.
Comeback for the mask requirement?
The increasing number of cases might now be followed by stricter measures once more. Health Minister Johannes Rauch does not rule out the return of the mask requirement in an emergency. “I’ve always said that if the situation gets more difficult once more in the fall, then we’ll take action once more,” he announced in ZiB2. The situation in the hospitals, or rather the state of stress in the health system, would be decisive for the comeback of the mask requirement. Should the situation escalate there, the mask requirement will be reintroduced.
