Young people from Coyah, more specifically those from Wankifong, organized a strong demonstration this Sunday morning on the Coyah-Forecariah national road. This demonstration follows a tragic event that occurred on the night of Saturday April 15 to Sunday April 16, 2023, at the Wonkifong crossroads.
According to the information sources, armed individuals dressed in military uniforms shot two citizens of the neighborhood. Unfortunately, one of them lost his life. The young people then decided to barricade the road this Sunday morning to express their anger at this situation.
The response forces quickly arrived on the scene to try to maintain order, but faced a tense situation. Tear gas was used in an attempt to disperse protesters and restore traffic to the road.
