1.5 tonnes of cocaine were seized in the North Sea, this is the result of an operation carried out jointly by Belgian and European customs.
Dubbed White Sea III, it took place for a month. Criminals are increasingly using the technique of dropping drugs at sea.
In one month, there were 12 arrests in Europe and nearly 800 ships analyzed and tracked. 79 ships were actually checked.

The fight is also done in the port. In the first six months of the year alone, customs seized more than 43 tons of cocaine in the port of Antwerp, an increase of 21% compared to the same period of 2022.
The drug is very often concealed in containers and comes mainly from Ecuador, Panama and Brazil.
