A home triumph
The organizers of this Valais stage are in heaven. Like every winter, the party is magnificent, colorful, with a large number of supporters who have come to encourage the Swiss and all the other girls.
This meeting is also a test for these organizers who hope to obtain the 2025 Worlds next June against the Austrians in Saalbach.
The sporting side is unfolding like a dream for the locals who this morning recorded a second consecutive double.
Corinne Suter, who became the first Swiss woman to win the downhill globe since Chantal Bournissen in 1991, quite a lease, immediately took the lead.
All smiles, moved, she goes to look at the girls passed one after the other behind her. All except a found Lara Gut Behrami.
Despite a not very favorable bib, the Ticino, like yesterday, gives everything. She starts at a good pace and will sign an incredible end of the course allowing her to pass Suter for two hundredths.
26th career victory for the Comano Bomb, which can once again proudly display its nickname. It’s a new triumph for this superb Swiss team.
Premiere for Ortlieb
The daughter of Olympic champion Patrick Ortlieb, still at ease on this track, obtained her first world cup podium this morning.
Nina even made the whole of Switzerland tremble by crossing the line with only five hundredths behind Lara Gut. A great achievement for this skier, still in the making.
Federica Brignone, 4th, made a good operation for the general by approaching very close to the great absent Mikaela Shiffrin.
Ester Ledecka, the Czech magician, finished 5th in front of Stephanie Venier, third in the first descent.
We note the beautiful 9th place of Romane Miradoli at 0.71sec.
This Crans Montana stage ends Sunday with a combined.
