Crucial Guidelines for Wearing Masks in Hospitals: Minimizing Transmission Risks and Protecting Against COVID-19

2023-08-28 16:13:28

To limit the risks of transmission in the hospital, it is essential that everyone, professionals, patients and visitors, respect instructions for wearing a mask. This is particularly indicated in any person:
• who has signs of respiratory infection,
• during contact with a person who has signs of respiratory infection,
• who is at risk of a severe form of COVID-19.

In addition, the mask must be worn at all times (corridor, rooms) in the departments which receive patients at risk of a severe form of COVID-19 and in any department in which a cluster is active.

Finally, according to the recommendations of the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS), a booster vaccination is indicated in patients at high risk of a severe form of COVID-19, in particular in patients over 80 years of age, respecting a period of 6 months following the last dose or infection.
