“Cruicible of Time: Exploring the Beauty of Solargraphy with Quentin Lacombe”

We talk regarding snapshots, as if the photographic technique only knew how to capture tiny fragments of time. However, this technique can also translate duration into an image, since it is a matter of light, and this is precisely what Quentin Lacombe seeks to do with this series of images entitled Cruicible of Time (literally “the crucible of time”). The device is elementary: a photosensitive paper is placed in a black box provided with a hole. Through this hole passes the light. And as long as the exposure lasts long enough, the paper then captures the path of the sun each day a little off. We then speak of “solargraphy”, and for the device, of pinhole.
