A pregnant Cuban woman narrated on social media how she helped another mother give birth at the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital because the doctors did not show up.
“I am from the province of Ciego de Ávila, I am 36.5 weeks pregnant and I have just had the most beautiful experience of my life receiving a baby,” says Elizabeth Sánchez.
The Cuban woman who is regarding to give birth explained the exciting moment she had to live through.
“I am admitted to the Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital and last night a girl arrived with pain. After recognizing her in the guardroom, they sent her to my ward, it was already late and no one else came to see her, she was alone because she was transferred from a maternity hospital. About 30 minutes ago we heard some screams and a girl saying that she was giving birth in bed, I already have more babies and I reacted quickly because the nurse was looking for the doctor who had already notified her twice,” she said.
While the doctor did not appear, the girl was giving birth alone and her baby was at risk in those conditions: “she was alone, her child fell on the bed face down and turning purple, I quickly took him in my hands and cleaned his face and placed him on his side. in my hands because he was drowning.”
Sánchez understands that the situation was risky: “I know that I shouldn’t have touched him but my mother’s instinct and with the help of God helped me react that way, it is a very nice experience, I am super happy that God put me in that situation.” moment there at his side”
The young woman expressed her indignation that situations like the previous one are occurring “I can’t stop being indignant with these things that are happening in our country.
