[New York Kyodo News]The 10th day of the U.S. Open, one of the four major tennis tournaments, was held on the 4th at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York. In the women’s singles quarterfinals, unseeded Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic), ranked 52nd in the world, defeated 22nd seed Beatriz Adamaia (Brazil) 6-1, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals for the second year in a row.
In the men’s tournament, 25th seed Jack Draper (Great Britain) defeated 10th seed Alex de Minaur (Australia) in straight sets 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals for the first time.
