Dacia was not necessarily expected in this area, but Renault’s “budget” brand is about to cause a sensation with the Spring, its first electric vehicle at € 15,000.
The Spring is presented as the most affordable 100% electric car on the market, and Dacia could well be right: its base price, battery included, is € 15,000, from which we can deduct the various ecological bonuses. The bill can thus go down to 10,000 €. A very attractive price for this type of vehicle.
First for car-sharing systems
The car takes its massive design from the SUVs, with a length of 3.73 meters and 1.62 meters wide. Inside, there are four seats, a 300 l trunk. and a folding rear seat for even more storage space. The 7-inch screen is CarPlay and Android Auto compatible, the driver also benefits from rear-view camera assistance.
The electric motor is 33 kWh, or the equivalent of 44 horsepower. The battery has a capacity of 26.8 kWh, which promises a range of 225 km in WLTP, or up to 295 km in the city (WLTP City). Dacia promises up to 6 days of city driving on a full charge.
Charging is possible on a simple household 220 volts outlet, but beware of the charging time required for a full tank: 14 hours. The Spring is also compatible with DC 30 kW terminals (full charge time: less than an hour), as well as with Wallboxes (from 5 to 8:30 a.m. for a full charge).
The Spring will make its appearance on the roads next spring, but only within the car sharing fleets at first. Dacia will also offer a cargo version (800 liters of storage) for last mile deliveries.
