The Dane Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek) won alone in the 2nd edition of the Maryland Cycling Classic, a 1.Pro event 196.9 km long, disputed in Baltimore in the United States, from where was given the start and where the finish was judged in the heat wave (34°C). American Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost) took 2nd place at 2:20 and Canadian Hugo Houle (Israel – Premier Tech) 3rd at the same time.

The Danish champion launched the final by attacking 58 km from the finish. Five riders managed to accompany him: Neilson Powless, Tom Skuijns, Hugo Houle, Chris Harper and Lucas Hamilton. In the last twenty kilometers, the attacks began to multiply among the leaders and it was Skjelmose who had the last word by spinning alone at the entrance to the last lap of the local circuit, a dozen kilometers from the final banner .

Skjelmose, who won his 9th pro success at 22, succeeds Sep Vanmarcke, winner last year ahead of Canadian Nickolas Zukowsky and Neilson Powless.
