Daniel Bloch, boss of Ragusa: “SMEs can no longer absorb all this regulatory complexity”

Daniel Bloch represents only the third generation at the head of the chocolatier from Courtelary, in the Bernese Jura. Grandson of the founder, he took over the management of operations in 1997 then the chairmanship of the board of directors in 2005. Camille Bloch, which has some 180 employees, achieves a turnover of around 60 million francs, of which half with its iconic Ragusa hazelnut bar, created more than 80 years ago. The family company decided a few years ago to produce its own hazelnuts in Georgia to guarantee quality and protect itself from price fluctuations. However, this ambitious project has fallen behind the initial schedule.
