Invited on Sunday to speak on MSNBC as part of Jen Psaki’s show, New York Democratic Representative Daniel Goldman denounced the “increasingly dangerous” rhetoric adopted, according to him, by Donald Trump, before making a statement which was interpreted by supporters of the former president as a call to violence.
“Her rhetoric is getting really dangerous,” the former federal prosecutor said during his interview with Psaki. “More and more dangerous. We saw what happened on January 6 [2021], when he used his inflammatory rhetoric, and his recent post on Truth Social is incredibly, incredibly scary for anyone trying to work in government. At this point, it is indisputable that this man can no longer hold public office. He is not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy, and he must be eliminated. »

Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, accused Democrats of calling for “violence once morest President Trump and his supporters since 2016.” “This rhetoric is neither new nor surprising,” he said.
Goldman apologized this Monday for having “used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump does not become president once more”. “While he must be defeated, I certainly wish him no harm and do not condone political violence,” he added on X.
