Daniel Seybold from Bönnigheim photographed industrial buildings in Detroit and Belgrade: Detroit, Belgrade and back – Bönnigheim

Refurbishment of the grinding mill

But he has not yet shown these photos from his parents’ homeland in large exhibitions, but has shown them individually in galleries. For this he was awarded a photo prize by a gallery in Munich. He would like to make an illustrated book and a large exhibition from the photos, but: “I don’t have the time to prepare it at the moment”, because he and his wife Silke are currently renovating the old grinding mill between Hohenstein and Bönnigheim, which they bought.

His wife’s job at a car company was the reason for moving to the USA and also for returning to Bönnigheim in 2017. Seybold would like to renovate the grinding mill “traditionally, in the style of the building”. A studio, a darkroom and rooms for photo workshops are to be integrated. At the next Open Monument Day, Seybold says he wants to open the mill to the public.

Although the grinding mill is not a large industrial building, the photographer is also concerned with forgotten craft businesses. “This might be my next passion for photography,” he says.
