Her daughter’s name is Indira. She is a documentary filmmaker in Mexico City. She has won numerous awards for her 2014 documentary on immigrants passing through Mexico.
Indira’s mother is Susanna Keito, a journalist and writer. Indira was born in Susanne to Marquez in the early sixties and early 1990s. Susanna, a student of Marquez, was involved in the screenwriting of two of his films. According to the AP, Susanna was interviewed by Marquez in 1996 for a magazine. According to L. Universal, Marquez named his daughter Indira in honor of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Indira was a big fan of Marquez. Indira Gandhi was one of the first world leaders to be praised when Marquez won the Nobel Prize in 1982.
Marquez, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, died in 2014. His wife is a Mercedes Barcha. They have been married for more than half a century and have two children – Rodrigo and Gonzalo.
