David Reinbacher: The Best-Selected Austrian in NHL History by the Montreal Canadiens

2023-06-29 00:01:00

The Austrian defender of Kloten, David Reinbacher was selected 5th overall in the 2023 Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. The 18-year-old, who has been playing in Switzerland for many years, played 46 games in the National League last year totaling 22 points. He thus becomes the best-selected Austrian in the country’s history.

Note that his selection was somewhat complicated for the goalkeeper Carey Price who experienced a moment of loneliness when calling Reinbacher. Indeed, the Habs goalkeeper remembered the player’s first name but needed the help of his general manager Kent Hughes for the last name.
