The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) announced Friday that Dean Connor, former CEO of Sun Life Financial, will succeed President Heather Munroe-Blum, who is retiring following nine years in the role .

Mr. Connor takes over as chair at a time when CPP is in dispute with the Alberta government over money that would be owed to the province if it withdrew from the pension fund.

Mr. Connor, who has over forty years of experience in the financial services and executive consulting industry, has served on the RPC Board of Directors since 2021.

He was the head of Sun Life, one of Canada’s largest life insurers, for almost ten years.
