The Moroccan financial community has just lost one of its figureheads. Abelaziz Al Mechatt, one of the deans of accountancy has passed away this Tuesday, November 22.
CEO of Coopers & Lybrand SA Morocco, he was president for two terms of the order of chartered accountants (1995-2001), of which he was one of the honorary presidents.
Statutory auditor and rigorous auditor, Abdellatif Al Mechatt has seen the most important Moroccan groups and their subsidiaries scroll through his client portfolio. He has been directly or indirectly involved in major restructuring or merger and acquisition operations in recent decades.
Professor at ISCAE and member of the permanent committee of the National Accounting Council, he has trained and mentored generations of Moroccan financiers.
