Death of former VUB rector Caroline Pauwels, a register of condolences is open

The Vrije Univertiteit Brussel (VUB) has opened a register of condolences in memory of its former rector Caroline Pauwels, the university said on Saturday.

Attentions can be deposited in the Braem building on the Etterbeek campus, at the Jette campus library and online via the Flemish University website. At the request of the former rector, the funeral will be held in a family setting, the VUB said. Caroline Pauwels, 58, died on Friday. She had suffered from stomach and esophageal cancer for several years. She had been forced to resign from her post due to her state of health last February.
