Decline in Remittances from Expatriates in Saudi Arabia: A Comprehensive Report by the World Bank

Jeddah: There has been a decrease in remittances from expatriates from Saudi Arabia. Compared to September last year, there was a decrease of 12.57 percent in September this year. But there was a slight decline in remittances last month compared to September.

In September last year, expatriates remitted 11.33 billion riyals. But last September it decreased to 9.91 billion riyals. The decrease was 12.57 percent. On a monthly basis, remittances last month were 8 percent higher than last September. But in the third quarter of this year, there was a 10 percent decline in total remittances by expatriates.

In the third quarter of last year, expatriates remitted around 34.86 billion riyals. But in the third quarter of this year, it decreased to 31.3 billion riyals. Also, in the first 9 months of last year, the remittances of repatriates were regarding 111.42 billion riyals. But in the same period this year, it decreased to 93.22 billion riyals, according to a report from the World Bank.
