Deemed too young to undergo a mammogram, she now has stage 4 breast cancer

In 2018, Philecia La’Bounty discovered a lump the size of a marble in her left breast. As she says in a video TikTok, she had no health insurance at the time. The young woman therefore went to a clinic in Long Beach, California, to perform an ultrasound. The results showed that it was a benign cyst. Anxious, the American still asked her doctor for a mammogram: “I was 29 at the time but he refused, stating that I was too young and had no family history.” His second motion was also denied.

Eight months later, Philecia returned to the clinic because the lump had grown to 8 centimeters. After an emergency ultrasound and mammogram, the young woman realized that she was suffering from a serious illness. Redirected to the City of Hope hospital, the American chained the medical examinations: “I had 8 biopsies – one in the armpit and I can’t remember how many in each of my breasts. The next day I did a PET scan (positron emission tomography) and an MRI.” Doctors diagnosed her with stage 4 breast cancer.which had spread to his lungs, lymph nodes and sternum.
