Indomie decided to change the shape of the cartons for its packages offered in the Egyptian market, following food safety objected to the data received on it.
A source in the Food Division said in statements to Masrawy, that “there was an objection from the Food Safety Authority to the data printed on the carton, which includes an indication that it contains vitamins and minerals necessary for the body, such as vitamin B, iron, calcium and zinc.”
The source indicated that the company decided to delete this data and change the shape of the cartons from white to brown in order to avoid the objection of the Food Safety Authority once more, and to not affect its sales.
This morning, the Food Safety Authority decided to withdraw Indomie products from the market; to be analyzed.
Mahmoud Hassan, a wholesaler, revealed the reason for this withdrawal, explaining that the agent of Indomie pulled the product from retailers and grocers because of what he called a problem with spice bags.
