A man deliberately darkened on the terrace of a restaurant in Lier on Tuesday evening, the Antwerp prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday. Several people on the terrace were injured, but not to the point of life-threatening. The driver, an employee of a nearby restaurant, was placed under arrest warrant for attempted homicide.
Although the circumstances are not entirely clear, the prosecution assumes that the 42-year-old driver acted impulsively and not premeditated. There would, in fact, have been an argument beforehand. The forty-something spontaneously surrendered to the police following the fact.
