State Duma deputies have found a way to produce a car that will be even more affordable to buy than the budget LADA Granta. They believe that for implementation it is necessary to simplify the requirements of the Technical Regulations and design a car that will not follow the extra passive safety requirements established in the regulations. This proposal came from the head of the Just Russia party, Sergei Mironov.
In his speech, Mironov invited the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Russian automakers to study the foreign method of producing affordable “folk” cars. The authors of the initiative believe that it is also necessary to identify redundant items in the Technical Regulations to remove obstacles to the production of affordable cars.
NA Vice-President Anton Shaparin made a statement that the Technical Regulations set too strict passive safety rules for cars, which differs from the Chinese system and does not allow affordable cars to be imported from there. According to him, in order to import cars from China, their design will have to be changed to meet Russian requirements.
