DFB Cup legend: The “Lord of the Balls” Hermann Selbherr (†90) dies – BILD

Hermann Selbherr, the former “Lord of the Balls”, is dead. The DFB announced this on Thursday. Selbherr was 90 years old.

The Allgäu native was the face of the DFB Cup draws for 15 years (from 1992 to 2007), of which he was the game director. Since 1986 he has worked for the DFB on the game committee.

He also took on numerous other tasks at the DFB. The former headmaster from Wangen had great achievements as Africa representative for international understanding. As a FIFA and UEFA delegate, he attended over 100 international meetings.

He received numerous awards throughout his life. These include the DFB’s Golden Badge of Honor, honorary membership and, in 2017, the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.

Now Selbherr died at an old age.
