The demonic realm of Sanctuary is about to get a touch of infernal firepower. Blizzard Entertainment has announced a limited-time collaboration between Diablo IV and Doom: The Dark Ages, bringing a host of cosmetics inspired by the iconic first-person shooter to the popular action RPG. The crossover, launching alongside Season 12 on March 11, 2026, offers players a chance to equip their characters with gear reminiscent of the Doom Slayer and his brutal world.
The collaboration arrives as Diablo IV prepares for its Season of Slaughter, adding the new Warlock class on April 28th. While the focus is on aesthetic enhancements, the timing suggests a deliberate effort to inject fresh excitement into the game as it continues to evolve. The Doom: The Dark Ages event provides a unique opportunity for players to personalize their experience with items pulled directly from another beloved franchise.
Players can participate by slaying demons and collecting “Dark Ages Currency,” a new resource dropped by elite and champion monsters. This currency can then be exchanged for a variety of Doom-themed cosmetic items. Lair Bosses have an increased chance to drop a “DOOM Chest” containing unique transmogs themed around the DOOM Crucible, offering even more customization options. Completing the full set of rewards unlocks the “Forsaken Gates” Town Portal as a free bonus.
The available cosmetics include the Shield Saw cosmetic, Slayer’s Flail head and the Head of the Cyberdemon back trophy, as detailed by Icy Veins. While some players have expressed disappointment at the lack of free pets, mounts, or full character skins, Blizzard emphasizes that this Reliquary is separate from the main season pass and accessible to all players without requiring additional purchases.
Beyond the Reliquary, free emblems will be available in the in-game shop from March 11th to March 15th: “Dark Before the Dawn” on March 11th, “Grandeur of the Gutted” on March 13th, and “Rip and Tear” on March 15th. Additional, purchasable cosmetics will grow available on March 12th for players looking to further immerse themselves in the Doom aesthetic, according to GameReactor.
The collaboration was previewed during a recent Diablo Spotlight showcase, confirming the integration of Doom: The Dark Ages inspired items into the game. Jennifer Young of Windows Central reported seeing cosmetics for the Doom Slayer, particularly fitting for the Barbarian class, alongside a Mecha Serrat Dragon mount and a Shield Saw shield cosmetic.
This isn’t the first time Diablo IV has crossed over with another franchise; a previous collaboration with Berserk offered similar cosmetic rewards. The Doom partnership, however, taps into a different vein of dark fantasy and action, appealing to fans of both series. The event is designed to provide a fun diversion while players prepare for the challenges of the Season of Slaughter and the arrival of the Warlock class.
As Diablo IV continues to expand with new content and collaborations, the integration of Doom: The Dark Ages cosmetics represents a creative approach to player engagement. The availability of free items ensures broad accessibility, while the optional purchasable cosmetics cater to dedicated fans. The success of this crossover could pave the way for future partnerships and further enrich the world of Sanctuary.
