Breaking News: Villeurbanne’s 4th Participative Budget Elects 15 Citizen Projects

Villeurbanne, France – In a landmark decision, the city’s 4th edition of the participative budget has come to a close. After a rigorous process of idea submission, project study, and voting, 15 innovative projects have been elected, representing a total budget of €1.132 million. The voting saw an impressive turnout with 5,354 votes cast, including 3,181 online.

Key Highlights of the Elected Projects

Among the elected projects, two themes stand out: “Reinvent Bonnevay” and “Conviviality and Neighborhood Life.” The “Reinvent Bonnevay” theme received a significant allocation of €290,000, which will be used for fun courses to rediscover the canal and the Bonnevay district, and a fun, sporty, and inclusive garden.

Theme: Conviviality and Neighborhood Life

  • Teens, Seniors: A Place to Have Fun, Meet, Relax – Proposed by ACBCL, €39,000. A community space for intergenerational bonding in the Buers Croix-Luizet district.
  • Let Us Renovate the Island Equality – Proposed by the collective of residents of the Island Equality, €200,000. A solidarity-supporting renovation in the Cusset district.
  • Sesame House: Open the Door to Repaired Objects – Proposed by Sésame House, €9,000. A repair shop for sustainable living in Perralière-Grandment.
  • A Tonkin Park Coffee – Proposed by Tonkin Tigers, €85,000. A community café in Tonkin Park.
  • Islets of Freshness and Conviviality in Saint-Jean – Proposed by Angélique Frindi and the inhabitants of Saint-Jean, €120,000. Refreshing community spaces in Saint-Jean.
