ROME: 2,000-year-old Roman shipwrecks found off the coast of Italy. The cargo ship was found in the port of Civitavecchia, 80 km north-west of Rome. The ship is believed to be from the 1st or 2nd century BC. There are hundreds of Manjars on board.

The art squad of the police department Carabinieri said in a statement that most of the pottery was found undamaged. The ship, more than 20 meters long, was found on a sandbar 160 meters below sea level. Carabinieri said the ship was evidence of ancient seaborne trade. The footage of the ship was filmed using a remote-controlled robot.

It is unclear whether the ship and its pottery will make it to shore. It is also not clear what the Roman monjars found on the ship were for. These vessels are usually used to carry oil, wine and fish sauce.
