A new beta version of the cross-platform file manager Double Commander, version 1.2.4, was released on March 14, 2026, according to a post on the VenusGirls Tistory blog. The release includes Korean language patches for Windows and macOS.
Double Commander, inspired by Total Commander, is a free and open-source file manager designed to run on multiple operating systems and processor architectures. Install packages are available for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows, as well as for macOS versions 10.11 and higher, including support for Apple Silicon (aarch64) processors. The release offers both executable installers (.exe, .msi) and portable zip archives.
The update includes Korean language support via a patch, offering localized settings menus. According to the GitHub wiki, Double Commander is currently undergoing active development with version 1.3.0 in alpha testing, following a series of beta releases starting with version 0.3 in 2007. The latest stable release is version 1.1.32, while version 1.2.3 beta is currently under testing.
Double Commander supports a variety of platforms and is designed to function with both 32-bit and 64-bit processors. The Debian package repository currently lists doublecmd-gtk as available in the ‘sid’ distribution. The GTK2 user interface is available, and support for RAR archives can be enabled by installing the libunrar5 package.
