DPRK Foreign Minister’s Visit to Russia: Potential Aviation Assistance and Geopolitical Interests

2024-01-14 14:27:00

Foreign Minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Choi Song-hee will visit the Russian Federation in the coming days. North Korea wants to receive aviation assistance from Russia, said Danil Gureev, an expert at the Center for Support of Political Processes.

“The Koreans have difficulties in the field of aviation, which they want to overcome at the expense of the Russian Federation,” the political scientist said in an interview with online publication “Moscow Region Today”. He also noted that the Russian Federation and the DPRK have common geopolitical interests. Thus, according to Gureev, North Korea is fighting for its independence with the governments of South Korea and the United States. And Russia acts as an anti-globalist force and is trying to build fair relations between countries.

In September South Korea called Ambassador of the Russian Federation and called for abandoning military cooperation with the DPRK. South Korea’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Jang Ho-jin said Russia must act responsibly in the East Sea since it adopted a resolution on sanctions once morest North Korea.
