Canadian rapper Drake announced Friday that he will be taking a “year or more” break from his music career to “focus on his health,” citing “stomach issues.”
“I probably won’t make music for a while, I’ll be honest,” the artist explained on his radio show Table For Oneadding, “I need to focus on my health and get back on my feet.”
Wanting to be reassuring, Drake clarified that it was “nothing serious”, explaining that he had “all kinds of problems with his stomach” for several years.
He also said he had other things to do for people he had made promises to, without giving further details.
“I’m going to close the studio door for a little while,” said the artist, adding that it would last “maybe a year, maybe a little longer.”
This announcement falls on the same day as the release of his new album, For All the Dogs.
