Police arrested a Cuban man from Hialeah on Wednesday accused of causing an accident.
In the accident, he injured three people, including a five-month-old baby, when he ran a red light while driving while intoxicated, reported local media.
A report from the Hialeah Police Department identified the suspect as Didier Duran Pena, 45, who was driving alone in a white 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan. According to the report, the defendant ran a red light and caused a collision with a red 2016 Nissan Altima on June 22.
Witnesses and CCTV footage confirmed that Duran Pena ran a red light near the intersection of West Eighth Avenue and West 29th Avenue, causing the accident shortly before 8:30 p.m.
The driver of the Altima suffered a lung contusion and a severe laceration to the spleen. The front passenger suffered multiple rib fractures and fluid buildup in the abdomen, while the infant in the back seat also suffered multiple rib fractures.

Hialeah Fire Rescue officials said that while responding to the crash, they detected a “strong odor of alcohol” on Duran Pena and noticed his “red, glassy eyes and slowed speech.”
His arrest report states he admitted to consuming several beers that day, although he could not specify the amount.
Before being arrested, the Cuban was taken to Hialeah Hospital, where a search warrant was executed for a blood test. The tests confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, according to detectives.
Jail records show he faces three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing serious bodily injury. As of Thursday, Duran Pena remained in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with bail set at $30,000.
