Drunk Driving & Fake License: Police Crackdown in Civitanova Marche

A Ukrainian man faces charges of drunk driving and possessing a false license after being stopped by local police in Civitanova Marche, Italy, on March 14, 2026. The man, whose name has not been released, was found to have a blood alcohol content four times the legal limit.

According to a statement from the Civitanova Marche local police, officers initially responded to a report of a vehicle breakdown near a railway underpass on Via Indipendenza. Upon arrival, officers detected signs of intoxication and administered a breathalyzer test. The test revealed a blood alcohol level exceeding 2 grams per liter, four times the permitted threshold.

Further investigation revealed the man was driving with a forged Polish driver’s license. The vehicle was immediately impounded, and the driver faces a fine of 5,100 euros in addition to criminal charges for driving under the influence and falsifying official documentation.

The incident is one of several recent enforcement actions undertaken by the Civitanova Marche local police. In a separate incident, a 52-year-old resident of Civitanova Marche was found to be driving a Nissan Micra without insurance, a valid vehicle inspection, or a driver’s license. He faces over 6,000 euros in fines and the vehicle has been administratively seized.

Beyond traffic enforcement, the police force has been actively monitoring local markets for illegal commercial activity and addressing urban decay, deploying officers in plain clothes to identify unlicensed vendors and other violations.

The local police also provided security for the 50th edition of the Stracivitanova, a local running event, which saw a higher-than-usual number of participants. They are also preparing for a stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico cycling race, deploying 18 officers and over 20 volunteers to secure the route. The force is expected to be bolstered in the coming weeks with the addition of two novel agents and an officer.

“Our daily commitment is not only a duty, but a promise we build every day to the city,” stated Commander Cristian Lupidi. “Behind every intervention is the dedication of men and women who firmly believe in the value of legality and the decorum of Civitanova, working tirelessly to make this community a more livable place for all.”
