Dubai Global Village: Eid Fireworks Cancelled Amid Closure & Safety Concerns (2026)

Dubai’s Global Village has cancelled its planned Eid Al Fitr fireworks displays and remains closed indefinitely, following directives from the UAE government citing precautionary safety measures amid heightened regional tensions. The popular cultural and entertainment destination, typically a focal point for celebrations during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, confirmed the cancellation on Thursday, March 14, 2026.

The decision impacts one of Dubai’s most visited seasonal attractions, leaving many residents and tourists disappointed. Global Village usually hosts large-scale firework displays during major holidays, attracting thousands of visitors each evening. Organisers confirmed that all planned Eid Al Fitr fireworks and drone shows have been cancelled this year, complying with official government guidance prohibiting such entertainment.

The closure and cancellation are linked to escalating regional instability, specifically the ongoing conflict involving Israel, the US and Iran. Authorities have taken additional safety precautions at major public venues in response to the situation. The UAE has reportedly intercepted ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran, prompting a reassessment of public events and gatherings.

Several other major attractions across the UAE have also temporarily closed as a result of the heightened security concerns. Dubai Parks and Resorts and Ain Dubai are currently closed, with operators advising visitors to check their respective websites for updates regarding reopening dates. Eid Al Fitr in the UAE is expected to begin around March 19, 2026, pending the sighting of the crescent moon. Global Village, known for its international pavilions representing more than 90 countries, typically attracts millions of visitors each season.

Ras Al Khaimah has also confirmed that it has no Eid Al Fitr fireworks scheduled, including at Al Hamra and Al Marjan Island. Authorities in Sharjah, Yas Bay Waterfront and Hudayriyat Island have been contacted for comment regarding their Eid plans.
