Due to rising energy costs, consumers invested more in making household appliances more sustainable last year. In 2022, there was more demand for electrical household appliances with an A label.

Substantial investments were also made in built-in hobs, industry organization APPLiA Netherlands reports. Due to the high gas price, consumers replaced their gas hobs en masse last year.

Due to the higher energy prices, sales of tumble dryers decreased. Consumers more often opted for an energy-efficient heat pump dryer. At least 75 percent of the dryers sold are heat pump dryers.

According to Stefan Verhoeven, chairman of APPLiA Netherlands and CEO of Miele Netherlands, the sale of appliances with an A label has been increasing since the introduction of a new energy label in March 2021. The supply is also growing.
