Kolkata: Mohun Bagan Super Giants won the opening match of the Durand Cup football tournament. In Group A, they defeated Bangladesh Army by five goals. Apart from Indian players Liston Colazok (14) and Manvir Singh, Suhail Ahmad Butt (39), Lallinliana Namte (59) and Kian Nasri (89) scored for Bagan.
North East United and Shillong Lajong will meet in Group D on Friday at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Guwahati. Kerala Blasters and Gokulam Kerala are in Group C which includes Bengaluru FC and Indian Air Force. Gokulam’s first game is once morest the Air Force in Kolkata on August 9. Blasters will also play once morest Gokulam on 13th.
