Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, discovered she had malignant melanoma while being treated for breast cancer.
The melanoma was discovered following several moles were removed while she was undergoing reconstructive surgery following a mastectomy, and doctors are conducting an analysis to see if it was detected early.
A spokesperson for the Duchess of York said: “It is clear that another diagnosis so soon following breast cancer treatment was distressing, but the Duchess remains in good spirits.”
Sarah (64 years old), the former wife of Prince Andrew and mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, was previously a favorite target of British tabloids.
The former Sarah Ferguson, known as Fergie, has published her memoirs and written a number of children’s books, in addition to a historical romance novel for adults.
This announcement came five days following two statements regarding the royal family in Britain, as Kate, Princess of Wales, underwent abdominal surgery, and King Charles III underwent prostate treatment this week.
