Michigan has been my home since 2021,and it feels like the right place to be. We’re building something special here. The fans, the administration, and my family have all embraced Ann Arbor. Plus, as a former indiana student manager, I’ve experienced both environments – Michigan feels like home now.

Your first season here has been exceptional.What’s the secret behind your success?

It’s all about the talent of our players, the dedication of our staff, and the support from the university. We’ve blended some experienced players with exceptional freshmen, and they’ve all bought into our system.We’re also benefiting from the investment the university is making in our program, from resources to NIL opportunities.

Speaking of investments, what does the increased budget mean for Michigan basketball?

It’s all about attracting and retaining top talent – both players and coaches. A larger NIL war chest allows us to be competitive in the recruiting game. It also means we can invest in technology, facilities, and support staff to give our players every advantage. It’s all part of creating a championship-level program.

Your contract buyout has increased to $7.5 million. does that send a strong message about your value to the program?

It’s a reflection of the potential the university sees in our program. It’s not about me; it’s about the investment they’re making in our collective ability to compete at the highest level. I’m proud to be a part of that.

Looking ahead, where do you see Michigan basketball in five years?

I see us being consistently in the hunt for Big Ten championships and deep into the NCAA tournament. I want us to be known for our tough defense, our unselfish offense, and our ability to develop players. I want our program to be a destination for elite recruits and a launching pad for careers beyond basketball.

Lastly, Coach, what would you say to your critics who doubted your ability to lead Michigan to success?

I’d thank them for the motivation. Every game, every practice, it pushes me to be a better coach and pushes our players to work harder. We’re not done yet – there’s still work to do – but I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, and I’m confident in our direction.
