Dutch Government Accused of War Crimes: Lawsuit Filed by Human Rights Organizations

Amsterdam: Human rights organizations are suing the Dutch government for alleged involvement in war crimes by transferring warplane parts to Israel. The Netherlands is storing and transferring parts of F-35 aircraft, which are mainly used for bombing in Gaza.

Complainant organizations including Oxfam have accused the Dutch government of complicity in the deaths of thousands of innocent people, including children. The other complainants are the Dutch voluntary organizations Rights Forum and PAX.

The District Court in The Hague will hear the allegations of complicity in war crimes through arms trafficking.

Michiel Servais, director of Oxfam Netherlands, said there was no other option but to go to court. “Many times, even at the highest levels, demands have been made for immediate ceasefire and delivery of humanitarian aid. It also called for a long-term solution that would benefit both Palestinians and Israelis. Meanwhile, it is painful that the Netherlands itself is complicit in these war crimes by providing military equipment,” he continued.

The Netherlands has a regional warehouse for US-made F-35 aircraft parts. According to government documents, these were shipped to Israel even following October 7. The Dutch Ministry of Defense has not commented on the issue.
