The German Handball-Bundesliga (HBL) is bolstering its international reach through an expanded partnership with Dyn Media, tasking the sports streaming platform with a significant modernization of its HBL TV service. The move aims to deliver a more robust and accessible streaming experience to fans in over 100 countries where the league currently lacks dedicated broadcast partners.
Beginning in mid-2026, Dyn Media will assume responsibility for the technical evolution of HBL TV. This includes implementing a new international over-the-top (OTT) infrastructure integrated with Dyn’s Content Desk, enabling the automated transfer of matches and highlights from both the HBL and the second-tier 2.HBL. The system is designed to streamline the live streaming process, minimizing manual intervention and maximizing efficiency.
According to Dyn Media CEO Andreas Heyden, “International visibility today is not created by rights alone, but by powerful technological infrastructure.” He emphasized that the collaboration will create a scalable platform combining reach, efficiency, and innovation, equipping sports organizations with the tools to manage their content globally in a sustainable manner.
This latest agreement builds upon an existing relationship between Dyn Media and the HBL. Dyn has previously provided the league with technology solutions, including a fully digitized archive of matches dating back to 1991, as well as AI-based systems for automated content creation and its Content Desk platform for content management, distribution, and monetization.
Expanding International Presence

The collaboration ranges from the digital archive and AI applications to content distribution.” He added that the HBL TV platform’s development is a crucial step in expanding the league’s international presence and ensuring its technological future.
Dyn Media’s influence in handball extends beyond the HBL. The company currently holds exclusive broadcasting rights for Europe’s EHF Champions League, EHF Champions League Women, and EHF European League competitions through 2030, as reported by the Handball-Bundesliga’s official website.
