Wednesday 10 November 2021
It may still be early, but that has not prevented technology experts from predicting what the iPhone 14, which will arrive at the end of 2022, might look like.
And while the iPhone 13 is still the newcomer, rumors have already painted a picture of what to expect from the so-called iPhone 14, which is set to be presented at Apple’s September 2022 conference.
Rumors suggest that a major redesign and all-new features could be seen, including:
The phone is expected to be released as the iPhone 14, with Apple possibly using the S symbol, in naming any of its versions, as rumors indicate that the iPhone 2022 will be a big enough upgrade to warrant an entirely new number.
No screen bump
The biggest change that experts currently expect with the iPhone 2022 is the removal of the notch, whose design was first introduced with the iPhone X, and has remained the same since then, and the bump is where Apple includes the front camera of the phone and its sensors such as Face ID.
Early iPhone 14 rumors indicated that Apple would not bring Touch ID under the screen to the iPhone before 2023, which means that the next phone will miss it.
According to trusted developer Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 14 will also include significant improvements to the front camera, with the biggest change being the autofocus update for the front camera.
Kuo also predicts that the iPhone 14 will not have a “mini” form factor like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. Instead, Kuo suggests that Apple offer four iPhones in two different screen sizes: 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches.
Experts also expect the phone to be 100% wireless, as the first iPhone to be available without a Lightning port.
