An obviously American study was conducted by the University of Michigan. It makes the link between the content of what we eat and the direct impact on our lifespan.
The researchers analyzed nearly 6,000 foods, and in the list, hot dogs are the most harmful dishes, with 36 minutes less life expectancy.
12 minutes less for a soda
For a can of soda swallowed, that would be 12 minutes of soaring life. There are no big surprises in this study: burgers, fries and pizzas reduce our life expectancy.
And conversely, eating for example baked salmon would save you 13 minutes of life expectancy. Ditto for a banana, plus three minutes for a tomato or avocado. In short, fish, fruits and vegetables would be the winning trifecta to live longer
