Quito: 10 inmates were killed in a prison riot in Ecuador. The incident took place on Friday in a prison in the capital city of Quito. The riots reportedly broke out following the authorities moved to transfer the three gang leaders from prison to another security facility.

Earlier, the police decided to transfer the prisoners who had conspired to create a riotous atmosphere in the prison. Then there would be a verbal dispute between the gangsters and it would lead to a riot.

Since February 2021, 400 inmates have been killed in eight massacres in Ecuador’s prisons. Five inmates were killed in a riot at the Quito prison on November 8.
